The idea to set up an organisation to unite the olive growers was launched by a Facebook post on 4th October, 2022 by Mr. Jimmy Magro. Several persons wrote in support of this idea. Mr. Magro then proceeded to call a meeting on the 18th November, 2022 to discuss the formation of an entity to unite the olive growers. During the meeting, Mr. Magro explained the need for such an organisation and that there were three options:

Encourage the cultivation of olive trees
Encourage the production of olive oil of high quality
The Koperattiva Produtturi taz-Zebbug Limited will be organising a half-day conference with the topic "The Development of Olive Tourism in Malta"
The proposed date is Saturday 22nd November 2025 between 0800 hrs and 1300 hrs
The Conference will be addressed by a number of experts.
More details will be published soon. The Cooperative has invited the Malta Food Agency, Gal Majjistral, Gal Xlokk, Project Green, Malta Tourism Authority and Archaeology Services Cooperative to be co-organisers of the said conference.
